Halloween ramblings.

So, I don't have a picture with the boys.  They were too busy playing in the fire pit.  We like to keep it safe in these parts.  I have a couple, but you can't even see their costumes.  I can tell you we had a sailor, a doctor, a Quidditch player, and a gladiator.  They all looked great, and more importantly, they got a ton of candy that I can steal while they are at school today.  That is a reward of parenting.  If you didn't know that, now you do.  You are welcome.

Also, I was alarmed and appalled to learn that St.Louis is one of the few places in this great country that require kids to tell a joke before they get their candy.  Always has.  Check this article out HERE.  Do your kids have to tell a joke to get their candy on Halloween?  Please tell me they do.  You hear the best jokes.  Good, clean, funny jokes.

Want to give a shout out of thanks to my sister and brother-in-law for hosting a great little party, and for sending home a TON of leftovers with us.  I wish the kids were off of school today so we could have stayed later, but alas they were not.  Which isn't entirely a bad thing because now I have more opportunity to pilfer their candy.  Too bad for them.  Too bad.

I have been {hearted}, and some BOO!

I'm guesting over at 'Joy's Hope' today.

{HOORAY!}

Check it out here.

I hope your Halloween was

spooktacular!

If your little chickens had

half as much fun as mine,

I would say it was a success.

BOO!

Halloween Paw-teeeee, take 2!

Here's the rest of the Halloween photos.
Nothing too exciting.
Jake surprised us with his 70s coach costume.
Wow, was it a surprise!
Rosie's gnome-on-the-roam costume turned out cute!
Oh, and the boys' parties were super fun!
We had a great 'Halloween-y' time!

Halloween Paw-teeeee, take 1!

Betsy's classroom Halloween Party 2009

P.S.
Have I ever told you how much I love
Betsy's school, her teachers, and
therapists?  I mean, I even love the
custodian.  Everyone is so nice,
and good at what they do!
We are so lucky to have such
a great 'special' program in our district.
Thanks!

Redundant.

I am not sure if I am typing right now, holding a barf bucket, spraying Lysol, or dreaming (it's been that kind of day), but I have managed to squeeze in some projects that have needed some attention.  You have read about one here already, and if you follow on Facebook, you have seen the other.  Redundancy is my middle name.  Frankly, I probably just shouldn't even post today.

But, a day without me posting is a day without sunshine for you.

Wow!  That was completely and utterly ri-gosh-darn-diculous and NOT true!

Did I just type that?

Okay, before I start telling you about my infected toenail, I'm just going to get on with it.

****
I posted this on Facebook, and got started on my version today...

Don't the birds in the packages creep you out.  Well, they creep ME out.  Lying there all realistic looking, but motionless, and wrapped up in cellophane.  Yikes!

I have also started on my version of this, for Rosie's halloween costume.  It is coming along...

Very pleased with the results, thus far.  I've made skirts before, but with this tutorial, even an ape withOUT opposable thumbs could sew one.

Oh, and one more thing...
apparantly, even chicken wire has gone politically correct.

Because NOW, it's poultry netting.  I mean, heaven forbid, the other fowl in the barn yard get offended by being left out.  It's not even 'wire' anymore.  What's all this netting business about?  That's hard core wire if I ever saw any.

Anywho, I better get back to it around here.

I think I have, officially, lost my mind.

gnome-a-licious.

I am going to, gingerly, attempt to make the above costume
for my dear, sweet Rosie.
First alteration to the above...
to turn those over-easy lookin' flowers into cute lil' toadstools instead.
Second order of business...
decide how to cut the pattern for the hat,
and how I'm going to get it to stand up like that,
AND stay on her melon head.
Thirdly...
I am on the hunt for a plaid shirt in a 3T or 4T.
You didn't really think I could make one of those, did you?
And, finally...
have Rosie practice walking in her hot pink wooden clogs that will look delicious with this costume.
Afterall, we actually have to make it from house to house trick-or-treating.
This may prove to be harder than I think.
Wish me luck!

Just a few tidbits...

1. We're famous! Well, sort of. See why here and here and here.

2. Welcome to Holland by Emily Pearl Kingsley-This is the best essay ever! Read it here. I have never read anything that rivals it in explaining the experience of having a differentlyabled child.

3. This is Rosie & her infamous "B".
You can get many kinds here, Rosie prefers the puppy.
And, after losing 2, they finally
make a three pack, "A Pair and a Spare".
Pure GENIUS!
Does/did your child have/had a security item?
Tell me about it in the comment area below.

4. After much deliberation, we are going to have a karate master, Batman, a friendly little skeleton, and a peacock in the house on Halloween. What tricks or treats will be in your dwelling this year?

5. Tonight is Jakey's fall music program at the high school. I hope he does his best and sings LOUD!
