What I was supposed to wear.

Saturday night was supposed to be a date night for Jake and I. We were invited to a wedding of an old high-school friend. We were going to dance, and eat, and be merry.

I was so proud of myself for putting together the ensemble that I did for this occasion. I found the dress at Target on the super-duper clearance rack. It was $6.86, or some other strange Target clearance amount, but under $7 nonetheless. Then, I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some floofy, flowery trim. And, voila! A pretty little dancin' dress. I saw the tights on nie, and went to Target and snatched them up. I had my eye on some sweet grey suede pumps, also from Target, which would have set the grand total for the costume to $42.00.

Sweet!

But, then...

Rosie went and got her cute, little butt sick. Jake went to the wedding by his lonesome, Pete went off to Grandma Kathy's and Grandpa's Jeff's, Jake went off to Grandma Ro-Ro's and Grandpa Sarge's, and I sat at home with the girls and we watched 'Annie'. It was, really, a peaceful night. It got me thinking about the plight of a mother. I was all set to dance the night away with my strapping husband, but instead, found myself at home nursing a pathetic, helpless critter back into good health. Right where I was intended to be.

Bittersweet, and I love it!

Bye for now!

My wish.

The following photos (by Martha Manning) of Whitney Deal's wedding (creator of the blog, "Darling Dexter") are real-life illustrations of why I wish I could sew. Like really, REALLY sew. Not cutting and hemming sheets for curtains. I mean, like, reading a pattern or better yet, making my own pattern and sewing. SEWING. Sewing pretty, pretty things. If I could it, I would promise to make the world prettier with things like these. Whitney and her mom made all of them. Even her gorgeous wedding gown. How freakin' cool is that? By the way, I think that her dress is the prettiest I've ever seen. Timeless. Modest.

Perfect.

ps Incidentally, the daisies also captured my heart.
My bridesmaids and I also carried simple clutches of
daisy mums. So pretty!

Love. Love. Love.

Say what? Where?

Juicy Couture.

Are you kidding me?

Typically,
I don't like anything referred to as "juicy" aside from ripe fruit and certain cuts of meat.

So, it seems only natural that I am not a big supporter of Juicy Couture. Tweens with a word sprawled across their rear that should only be used to describe a fresh plucked plum or succulent roast chicken is inappropriate, to say the least.

But, I am hopelessly in love with the swimsuit above. It would be flattering on just about anyone (shirring, skirt, need I say more). It is also classic, timeless, and just so darn cute. It comes in five super fabulous colors (my favorite is above), and best of all, it doesn't claim to be "juicy" anywhere but on the tag inside.

Now, that's "j-j-j-juicy".
take your time swimsuit season!

Hair today, gone tomorrow.

Some of you asked to see my new do, so here ya go!
It's...okay. It's certainly easy.
The downside: all my gray hair popped out, BIG TIME!
Geez, 31 and grays...a lot!
Thanks, Dad. The genes you have passed onto me are very much appreciated.
The common sense, intelligence, and smashing good looks I can handle.
The white hair already sproutin' out, not so much!
Now, if I get those big bushy eyebrows...

ps The flower in my hair I made, but if you would like one that looks much nicer and is made with way more attention to detail, go here. Better yet, if you click on the pink button on the left, you can view many etsy items whose proceeds go directly to 'Cora's Playground'. To learn more about 'Cora's Playground' click here, here, here, here, and here (to name a few).

Go hug your kids or dogs or both!

Shorter.

Should I or shouldn't I?

collage of images from aaa-fashion.com

It's a risky move for me to go even shorter than it already is...

'cause I'm in a wedding in 4 weeks. Yikes!

Plus, and this needs to be said, I look nothing like the women above.

But...

it's only hair, after all. It will always grow back, right?

Toodles!
